This Privacy Policy describes how Shaare Technologies LLC ("Shaare," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information across all of Shaare's Brands, Products and Services, collectively called "Shaare Services," including Piing and SoberMe. By using Shaare Services you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Shaare Services.
Shaare Services include different products that work in different ways and collect different information. Where a section below applies to one product only, it says so. In particular, the location, tracker, and SMS practices described in this Policy apply to Piing and do not apply to SoberMe.
Piing is a product of Shaare Technologies LLC that provides location sharing and tracking for people, pets, and vehicles, including cellular-connected trackers ("Devices"). The sections below describe what information Piing collects and how it is used, in addition to the general practices described throughout this Policy.
SoberMe is a product of Shaare Technologies LLC that blocks pornography, gambling, and other distracting or harmful websites and apps at the network level, on your own device. This section describes how SoberMe works and what it does and does not collect.
To block websites across every app and browser on your device — rather than inside a single browser — SoberMe registers a local VPN connection using Android's VpnService API and, on iOS, the Network Extension framework. This is required for the app's core blocking feature and is used for no other purpose.
Without this permission, an app cannot filter what other apps and browsers load on the device. That is the only reason SoberMe requests it.
SoberMe has no account and no sign-up. It collects only:
SoberMe does not collect your location, your contacts, your phone number, your messages, or your browsing history. The Device SMS practices and location-tracking practices described elsewhere in this Policy apply to Piing only and are not used by SoberMe.
SoberMe includes a diagnostics screen that can record the app's own filtering activity to help troubleshoot problems. It is switched off by default, must be turned on manually by you, is cleared automatically each time the app is launched, and is stored only on your device. It is never uploaded to Shaare. If you choose to send it to us when reporting a problem, you do so deliberately using your device's share function.
Information you provide: account information (name, email, phone number, authentication details), profile information (photos, pet/vehicle/tracker details), payment information (processed by our payment processor, Stripe — we do not store full card numbers), and any communications you send to support. SoberMe has no account and does not collect this information.
Information collected automatically: in Piing, precise GPS location, with your permission, from your device and/or from paired Devices, used to show locations, geofences ("Safe Zones"), and location history to you and the people you choose to share with; device and SIM identifiers (including the ICCID/MSISDN of cellular SIM cards embedded in Devices), used to activate, manage, and send commands to that hardware; and general usage and diagnostic data. SoberMe does not collect location data of any kind.
Information from other users: if another user pairs with you, follows your tracker, or shares a Safe Zone or location with you, we process the data necessary to support that sharing relationship. This applies to Piing only.
Certain Piing Devices (such as vehicle trackers) contain their own embedded cellular SIM card. When you initiate a remote command from the app — for example, sending a relay/immobilizer command to a vehicle tracker — we deliver that command to the Device's SIM by SMS, and the Device may reply by SMS to confirm or report the result.
This SMS exchange happens directly between our systems and the Device's own SIM card. It is not sent to, or received on, your personal mobile phone number, and your personal phone number is not used for this purpose. We collect your phone number separately, only for account verification and account-related notifications. We do not sell or share Device SIM data or your phone number with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.
We use information to provide, operate, and maintain Shaare Services, including real-time location sharing and Device control features; to process payments and manage subscriptions via Stripe, Apple, Google, and RevenueCat; to activate, monitor, and send commands to cellular-connected Devices via our SIM and SMS providers; to send transactional notifications by push notification, email, and SMS as described above; to detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues; and to comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only: with other users you choose to share with (e.g. pair/follow relationships, shared Safe Zones, or location history you authorize); with service providers who perform services on our behalf, including payment processing (Stripe), app-store billing and subscription management (Apple, Google, RevenueCat), SMS/voice delivery (Twilio), cellular SIM connectivity and device messaging (ThingsMobile), push notification delivery (Apple/Google), and cloud hosting/infrastructure providers, each contractually limited to using your data only to provide services to us; for legal and safety reasons, including to comply with law or protect the rights, property, or safety of Shaare, our users, or the public; and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
Mobile opt-in data and phone numbers collected for SMS purposes are never shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.
Piing is designed for consensual tracking of people, pets, and vehicles you own or are authorized to track (for example, family members who have agreed to share their location, or your own vehicles or property). You are responsible for ensuring you have the legal right and, where applicable, the explicit consent of any individual before tracking their location using the Service. Misuse of the Service to track a person without their knowledge or consent, where required by law, is strictly prohibited.
We retain account and location data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide Shaare Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
You can access, update, or delete your account information from within the app or by contacting us; control location-sharing permissions via your device's system settings at any time; and opt out of SMS messages as described above. In SoberMe, you can remove the VPN configuration at any time from your device's system settings, which stops all filtering. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under laws such as the CCPA or GDPR, including the right to request a copy of your data or object to certain processing.
Shaare Services are available for use only if you are at least 13 years old. Shaare is an advocate of child safety and child safety laws and regulations and prohibits the use of its Services for Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Shaare is based in the United States. If you access Shaare Services from outside the U.S., you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S. or other countries where our service providers operate.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we modify this Policy, we will inform you of such changes by posting the revised Policy on Shaare Services, and where this Policy is posted when using our other products and services. By continuing to access or use Shaare Services, you agree to abide by the revised Policy.
